The Teller relies on three main sources for income to support nearly all of its programs and mission: The Teller Endowment Fund established by our founder, Otto Teller, in 1995, rental income from our lodging operation, a special event called the TNT and most importantly, charitable gifts or donations. These four activities generate approximately 85 percent of the annual income to sustain The Teller.

The funds provided through donations from private individuals, families, foundations and many local businesses are used to cover the following areas of the operation:

• Capacity and Administration: We are a very efficient non-profit organization with only five full-time staff members on the payroll. As with any business, it takes money to pay for the care and maintenance of the operation, the office, property taxes, staff costs and supplies.

• Land Management: We are responsible stewards of 1,200 acres of land. Annual investments in water structures, fences, roads, trails, and farming are needed to maintain a quality land base for wildlife and people.

• Mission Programs: Conservation and Education programs are the cornerstones of the entire Teller operation. Please visit each of these web pages for more detailed information.

• Capital Equipment and Facilities: Teller runs much like a family farm in many respects. We have tractors, farm trucks, irrigation equipment, barns, sheds to acquire and maintain. We also have the responsibility of keeping up with the annual tasks associated with three historic and restored farm houses and large barn on the property.

Our annual budget approved by the Board of Trustees each year has grown positively over the past three years. The annual objective of the Board and Staff is to balance the budget. This year, the Annual Budget calls for generating $691,000 in income to an expense line item of $690,000.
