Dan’s ties to Teller date back to 1988, when the organization was formed. After serving for many years as a volunteer and donor, he became The Teller’s Executive Director in July 2003, following a 16-year career working in the non-profit conservation sector and in private practice, running his own business.

Dan graduated from the University of Montana in 1987 with a B.A. in Business Administration. After graduation, he worked briefly for the Grizzly Athletic Association in the UM Athletic Department, as the first Assistant Director. In 1988, he was hired to join the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF), and in 1992, pursued his own entrepreneurial business ventures. He returned to RMEF in 1996 as its first Regional Lands Manager, and was promoted to Vice President of Development in 1999. In 2002, he joined Safari Club International Foundation, where he served as the Vice President of Development.

Outside of his Teller duties, Dan volunteers his time to a variety of local and regional organizations. He currently serves as Chair of the Open Lands Board (OLB) in Ravalli County, and also served as
Vice Chair of the Intermountain West Joint Venture (IWJV).

In his spare time, Dan enjoys the outdoors with his two sons, Chase and Davis, and wife, Lisa. He has a passion for waterfowl and archery hunting, camping, fly fishing and floating wild rivers across Montana.
