Aspen Exclosure

Regrowth and regeneration of Aspen is lacking on The Teller due to disease and over-browsing by Whitetailed Deer. Where existing colonies of Aspens are in less than healthy conditions, removing unheathly trees and letting small ones grow is necessary.  In April 2009, during The Teller's Earth Day Celebration, 15 volunteers helped erect the Aspen Exclosure fence as our first step towards regeneration of the Aspens. Not only will the project benefit the Aspens and riparian vegetation, but a host of neo-tropical songbirds that migrate through Montana and depend on healthy riparian systems.
